Can you add your Apple Card to an Android phone?
You can’t add an Apple card to an Android device simply because the Apple card needs an Apple Wallet app to reside, which is only available on iPhone.
If you already have an Apple card that you signed up for using your iPhone or iPad, and you’ve now switched to Android, you may wonder how to manage the Apple Card since it can’t be added to an Android device.
Luckily, if you’re using an Android phone, you can still manage your Apple Card from AppleCard.com. This website will allow you to pay your Apple Card bill, view your statements, check your remaining balance, etc.
We’ll discuss what happens to your Apple card when you switch from iPhone to Android in detail later. But first, let’s understand what the Apple Card is, its features, and what it is most useful for.
What is Apple Card?
The Apple Card credit card is used for online or in-store purchases and can be linked to your Apple Pay account. The card lives in the “Wallet” app and comes in two versions, virtual and physical.
The virtual Apple card is activated immediately when your Apple card request gets approved, whereas the physical Titanium Apple card needs to be ordered separately.
The difference between the virtual and physical Apple card is that the virtual Apple card can be used at any store where Apple Pay is supported, while the physical Titanium version works like a traditional credit card and can be used everywhere where MasterCard is accepted.
In other words, you can use the physical Titanium Apple card, where Apple Pay is not supported.
You will not find a card number or security code on your physical Titanium Apple card. These details can be found inside your Apple Wallet app.
One of the benefits of the Apple card is you get 3% cashback when you use it with Apple pay at select merchants like Nike, Uber, etc.
You also get 2% cashback when you use an Apple card with Apple Pay at any store. You get 1% cashback when you use a Physical Titanium Apple card.
Now that we know what an Apple card is, let’s look at what happens to your Apple card when you switch from Apple to Android.
Can you use your Apple card after switching to Android?
You may be able to use your Apple card after switching to Android depending on the version of the card you have.
As mentioned earlier, there are two versions of the Apple card, the virtual and physical one. The virtual Apple card resides in the Wallet app and is used with Apple Pay.
Since the Wallet app and Apple Pay are unavailable on Android devices, the virtual Apple card can’t be used after switching to an Android device.
On the other hand, if you have a physical Titanium Apple card, you can use it like your normal credit card at any store where MasterCard is accepted, even after switching to Android.
You can also continue to manage your card, pay your bills, check your balance, and more on AppleCard.com.
Note that the physical Apple card information, like card number and security code, is only available in the Apple Wallet. So before switching to Android, make sure you note down the physical card information from the Apple Wallet on your iPhone or iPad.
If you fail to save your card information before switching, you won’t be able to use your physical Titanium Apple card for online purchases.
See this article for more about using your Apple Card without an iPhone
We now know that the physical Apple card can be used after switching to Android. But can you also order an Apple card as an Android user? Let’s find out in the next section.
Order an Apple card as an Android user?
As we discussed earlier, Apple card lives in the Apple Wallet, which is only available on Apple devices like iPhone and iPad.
Note: while the Apple Wallet app is only available on iPhone, you can also see your Apple card information on iPad in the settings.
Since there is no Apple Wallet for Android, you can’t order an Apple card (neither physical nor virtual) as an Android user. To order an Apple card, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a U.S. resident or citizen with a genuine residential address(not just a P.O. box)
- Your age should be 18 or above
- You should own an iPhone or iPad with an active iCloud account
- “Two Factor Authentication” must be enabled on your Apple ID
It is now clear that you can’t order an Apple card as an Android user, but you can still manage your old Apple card without your iPhone on Android. Let’s see how.
Managing the Apple card without an iPhone on an Android
On the iPhone, you can easily schedule payments, check your balance, and pay your bills directly from the Wallet app. Again, the Wallet app is exclusively available on iPhone.
That said, Apple also lets you manage your Apple card Android through the AppleCard.com site. Through the website you can pay your Apple card bill, see your payment history, check your balance, see the minimum payment due, etc.
You can also set up a recurring scheduled payment or make a one-time payment.
Here’s how to pay your Apple card balance from an Android phone using the site:
Open your Android browser and go to AppleCard.com. Sign in with your Apple ID and password you used to sign up for your Apple card.
After logging in, go to the “Payments” tab in the sidebar and scroll down to the bottom to make a payment.
Note that , you can also pay with a check as discussed in the next section.
Paying your Apple card balance using a check
To pay your Apple card balance using a check, you need to have your Apple card information – Apple card account number and full name as found . on your physical Titanium Apple card.
Your Apple card account number can be found on your iPhone’s Wallet app or in your iPad settings.
If you’ve switched to an Android device and are unable to access your Apple card account number, you will not be able to make Apple card payments using a check.
If you do have your Apple card account information, follow these steps to make a payment using a check:
On the check, write your Apple card account number and the name associated with the card. Next, write the address where you want to transfer the payment.
Note when paying by check, you will need to wait 7-10 days for the check to be received and processed.
We’ve now seen how to manage and pay the balance on an Apple card from an Android device.
Can we add an Apple card to the Samsung Wallet app?
Apple cards can only be added to the Apple Wallet app, which is only available on the iPhones.
Apps like Samsung Wallet, Google Wallet, and others do not support adding an Apple card.
If you try to add your Apple card to any third-party wallet app, you will get the “Card is not supported” error on your device.
